Terroir is committed to deliver superior single origin coffee, celebrating what is indigenous and specific to each farm region: the land, the climate, the farming technique, and the efforts of coffee growers. Historically, there has been little incentive, financially and otherwise for producers to cultivate superior quality, single origin coffees. Often the coffee industry falls to the lowest common denominator, mixing varied beans from many regions, and balancing good coffee with mediocre. Terroir doesn’t sell mixed blends of coffee, and often pays far above market price to insure the growers continue to produce top quality coffee.
Terroir is the only roaster who specially stores fresh raw coffees until they are roasted. Once the coffee arrives in warehouse, it is vacuum packed at maturity, frozen at 40 degrees below zero. The essence of the coffee is preserved for months, and even years, until it is hand-roasted and sold to fine food stores, cafes, restaurants and independent customers. Coffees stored otherwise, lose aroma, body, sweetness and floral attributes from harvest. Terroir takes great care, time and expense to deliver coffees truest to their root.
